Commercial Infrared Heating, Designed Around Your Building

Large, tall or intermittently used buildings are expensive and slow to heat with warm air. We design and install radiant heating that warms the people and work areas you need, zone by zone, when they are in use.

Is your building hard to heat?

  • Warm air rises to the roof while people at floor level stay cold
  • Roller doors, loading bays or busy entrances let heated air escape
  • The building is used for a few hours at a time but needs hours of pre-heating
  • You only need heat in certain areas – workstations, seating, a stage or reception
  • An old gas, oil or warm-air system is failing and you need a replacement that suits the building

Radiant infrared heating works differently. It warms people, floors and surfaces directly rather than the air above them – so it can suit high-ceiling and intermittently used buildings where conventional heating struggles. Whether it is right for your building is something we assess properly before recommending anything.

An engineering-led approach, not a box of heaters

Commercial infrared only performs well when it is designed for the building. Every SES commercial project follows the same process:

Building assessment

Construction, use, occupancy patterns and which areas actually need heat.

Preliminary heating design

An initial layout showing heater positions, coverage and zones.

Heat-loss assessment

Where fabric, ventilation or air leakage will significantly affect performance.

Heater selection

The right type and output for each zone – not one product everywhere.

Mounting height

Radiant heat installed at the correct height and angle for the people it serves.

Electrical capacity

We check your supply and boards, and flag any upgrade before quoting.

Controls & zoning

Timers, thermostats and zones – simple enough for staff or volunteers.

Installation

By qualified electrical installers, phased if the building must stay open.

Testing

Full testing and commissioning before handover.

Certification

Electrical certification and handover documents for your records.

Buildings we heat

Fast warm-up for services and events, sympathetic to historic and listed buildings.

Community & village halls

Heating that follows the booking calendar, with simple controls.

Workshops & garages

Heat workstations and bays rather than the whole roof space.

Warehouses & factories

Zoned heat for picking, packing, production and office areas.

Gyms, studios & leisure

Comfortable radiant warmth for classes and training.

Offices, cafés & retail

Discreet ceiling or wall panels for customer and staff areas.

What our customers say

We have installed infrared heating in churches – including an A-listed church – cafés, offices, gyms and homes across Scotland.

“It is finally warm… we can now fully utilise the building.”

Commercial infrared heating FAQs

Is infrared heating suitable for a large or high-ceiling building?

Often, yes. Radiant heat warms people and surfaces rather than air, so it avoids much of the problem of warm air collecting at roof level. Suitability depends on the building, the mounting heights available and how the space is used – which is why we assess every building first.

How much will it cost to run?

Running costs depend on heater outputs, how many hours each zone is used, your tariff and the building itself. We don’t quote a standard saving; as part of the design we explain the expected load and how controls and zoning keep usage down.

Will our electrical supply cope?

That is one of the first things we check. We review your incoming supply, recent bills and distribution boards, and tell you if extra capacity is needed before any work is quoted.

Can you work in a listed or historic building?

Yes. We plan heater positions, cable routes and fixings to respect the building, and support you with the permissions process.

Does the building need to close during installation?

Not usually. We agree a programme with you and can install in phases around opening hours, services or production.

Can infrared heating run from solar PV?

Infrared heating is electric, so it can use electricity generated by on-site solar PV and stored in a battery. We can design solar and battery storage alongside your heating where it suits the building.
